Job Description: Senior C&I Designer
Location: Seascale, Cumbria (site-based / hybrid as applicable)
Contract Length: 12 months (initial)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Designer.
This is a role, responsible for overseeing design delivery across a portfolio of nuclear projects, with a particular focus on instrumentation systems. The successful candidate will provide technical assurance, leadership, and coordination, ensuring all design outputs meet the stringent quality and safety standards required in a nuclear environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical checking, verification, and approval of C&I design deliverables
- Lead and coordinate instrumentation design activities from concept through to detailed design
- Ensure all designs comply with:
- Nuclear regulatory requirements
- Site standards and procedures
- Relevant engineering codes and best practice
- Oversee and review key deliverables, including:
- Instrumentation schematics and loop diagrams
- Hook-ups and wiring diagrams
- Cable schedules and termination details
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to design team members
- Support portfolio delivery, balancing workload across multiple projects
- Identify and manage technical risks, issues, and design constraints
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of C&I systems with wider plant design
- Contribute to planning, resourcing, and scheduling activities within the design function
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior C&I Designer within the nuclear industry
- Previous experience working on nuclear sites
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Act in a lead design and checking capacity
- Manage multiple projects / portfolio delivery
- Strong expertise in:
- Instrumentation design and systems
- Design verification and assurance processes
- Familiarity with:
- Nuclear safety culture and regulatory frameworks
