Nuclear Programme Planner

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nuclear Programme Planner to support a major programme within the UK nuclear sector. Working as part of a Project Controls function and closely supporting Programme Delivery leadership, you will provide planning expertise and guidance to develop, maintain, and report on integrated project and programme schedules using Primavera P6.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile, strategically important programme within a complex and highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, baseline, progress, and maintain integrated programme schedules using Primavera P6.
- Measure and report programme progress against established targets and milestones.
- Review and challenge supplier and subcontractor programmes, methodologies, and logistics plans to ensure alignment with overall programme objectives.
- Develop and maintain Basis of Schedule documentation to communicate planning assumptions, logic, constraints, and methodologies.
- Perform scenario analysis and "what-if" forecasting to identify potential programme risks and opportunities.
- Produce programme reports, critical path analysis, and schedule updates for project teams and stakeholders.
- Identify recovery strategies and programme improvement opportunities where required.
- Support risk and opportunity management activities through schedule analysis and planning input.
- Drive continuous improvement within planning and project controls processes.
- Facilitate planning workshops and collaborative scheduling sessions.
- Work closely with clients, suppliers, and project teams to ensure contractual and programme requirements are achieved.
- Ensure schedules are appropriately resource-loaded and undertake resource smoothing and levelling activities where required.
- Support cost-loaded scheduling and earned value management reporting.
- Contribute to programme reporting and stakeholder presentations, including participation in client and regulatory meetings where required.
- Promote a collaborative environment while constructively challenging assumptions and encouraging positive change.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum of three years' experience in a Planning role within complex project environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Experience developing and managing complex schedules with multiple interfaces, dependencies, and stakeholders.
- Understanding of cost management principles and earned value reporting.
- Experience managing programme baselines and formal change control processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a questioning mindset.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and challenge constructively.
- Experience producing programme and portfolio-level reports and dashboards.
- Eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC); candidates may commence with BPSS clearance where appropriate.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, or production programmes.
- Experience working directly with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of programme controls and governance within large-scale infrastructure or engineering projects.
Reporting Structure
- Functional reporting into Project Controls leadership.
- Day-to-day reporting into Programme Delivery Management.
Location
Hybrid working arrangement with a requirement to attend the office at least one day per week.
Occasional travel to supplier and stakeholder locations may be required.
