Incinerator Shift Operator

Location: Salisbury (Full-Time On-Site)

Contract Length: Long-term contract available until July 2027

Working Pattern:

  • 48 hours per week
  • 4 x 12-hour shifts
  • Rotating day and night shifts
  • Shift times: 06:00–18:00 and 18:00–06:00
  • Includes weekends and bank holidays

Role Overview

We are recruiting for several Incinerator Shift Operators to join a specialist operational facility in Salisbury. This role involves the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of incineration plant equipment, ensuring compliance with operational, environmental, health, and safety standards.

The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining continuous plant operations while working as part of a shift team in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor incinerator plant systems and associated equipment.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant processing of materials through the incineration facility.
  • Conduct routine operational checks, inspections, and monitoring activities.
  • Record operational data and maintain accurate shift logs and documentation.
  • Identify and report equipment faults, defects, or abnormal operating conditions.
  • Support planned maintenance activities and assist with basic troubleshooting where required.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures and regulations.
  • Respond appropriately to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across operational areas.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and support teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Participate in shift handovers, providing accurate and detailed operational updates.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working within an industrial, manufacturing, processing, utilities, waste management, energy, or similar operational environment.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-critical environment.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and committed to maintaining high operational standards.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience operating incineration, process plant, waste treatment, utilities, or industrial equipment.
  • Mechanical or technical aptitude with experience identifying and reporting equipment issues.
  • Experience working within a regulated or controlled operational environment.
  • Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
