RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Engineer to support project cost management activities across a range of complex projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in budget preparation, cost forecasting, performance analysis, and financial reporting, helping project teams maintain effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, monitoring, and control of project budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with the implementation and management of change control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with established procedures, processes, and systems to maintain the quality and consistency of project cost data.
  • Monitor project expenditure and performance, including accrual management where required.
  • Contribute to the production of cost reports, highlighting trends, risks, opportunities, and early warnings.
  • Support Schedule Performance Index (SPI) and Cost Performance Index (CPI) variance analysis, including root cause investigations and recovery planning.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).
  • Support the preparation of cost studies and benchmarking exercises using historical and project data.
  • Analyse project cost and performance trends to provide meaningful insights and recommendations to project management teams.
  • Review resource utilisation, manpower productivity, and project time bookings against planned allocations.
  • Identify resource constraints and support recommendations to optimise project performance.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost information to support project decision-making and reporting requirements.
  • Undertake additional cost engineering and project controls activities as required.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in a Cost Engineering, Cost Control, Project Controls, or related project support role.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working with project budgets, forecasting, cost reporting, and performance analysis.
  • Understanding of earned value management principles, including SPI and CPI analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and project cost management systems.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
