RESPONSIBILITIES

Driver / Transport Operative (Cat D Licence Required)

Hours of Work

• Monday to Friday
• 37 hours per week
• Any 8-hour shift worked on a rota/shift basis with advance notice provided
• Additional hours may be required to meet operational and business needs

Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Driver / Transport Operative to support training and operational activities. The role is predominantly coach driving, requiring the safe and efficient transportation of personnel to a variety of locations and events. Applicants must hold a valid Category D (Coach) driving licence.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive white fleet and green fleet vehicles in support of training and operational requirements.
• Transport personnel to and from training areas, ranges, exercises, and other designated locations.
• Provide transport for organised visits and activities at various venues and events.
• Carry out first and last parade vehicle servicing, including vehicle checks, refuelling, and internal/external cleaning.
• Record and report vehicle faults or defects using the appropriate defect reporting system.
• Notify supervisors of any issues or incidents encountered during driving duties.
• Initiate vehicle recovery procedures in the event of a breakdown.
• Follow traffic accident reporting procedures when required.
• Assist with the diagnosis and rectification of minor vehicle defects when not assigned to driving duties.
• Support vehicle maintenance and general transport department tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Valid Category D (Coach) driving licence.
• Experience driving coaches or large passenger vehicles.
• Good understanding of vehicle safety checks and defect reporting procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements.
• Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service.

Desirable

• Experience supporting training, military, or large-scale operational environments.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical repairs.
