RESPONSIBILITIES
General Job Function:
Working under the guidance of the Head of Strategic Projects, responsible for the delivery and project management requirements of the Programme Resilience workstream which comprises a number of projects designed to strategically provide resilience into the programme, remove single point vulnerabilities and ultimately accelerate mission. This workstream lead will work closely with the Head of Programme to implement project identified by programme. Projects developed under this workstream may evolve into workstreams in their own right.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning, directing and co-ordinating the team's activities to manage and implement projects and/or interrelated projects from initiation to final closure.
Determines and monitors and reviews all project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk.
Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the workstream. Working closely with the Strategic Projects PCM.
Adheres to the established Project Management processes and governance arrangements, ensuring this is cascaded throughout the projects that make up the workstream.
Works with the Head of Compliance to ensure EHS&Q arrangements are in place and that adherence to Management Systems is robust.
Actively promotes learning from experience and continuous improvement, working with the Head of Strategic Projects to identify and embed improvements within the workstream.
Identifies and assembles the appropriate blend of resources to meet the workstream’s needs and requirements. Including the appropriate level of make vs buy and therefore the use of supply chain to support the organisation’s commercial construct
Undertakes status review meetings among project teams that form the workstream under their oversight. Advises the Head of Strategic Projects on matters of escalation, major concerns, risks, and opportunities within the workstream.
Controls project requirements, scope and change management issues (including approval of contract variations and early warnings within appropriate levels of authority), both with the client and supply chain. Working closely with the Strategic Projects Commercial manager to do so.
Alongside the Head of Strategic Projects the WSL works to ensure the workstream delivers on it’s requirements to drive the mission of the programme. The WSL is required to bring a “region D” mentality to pace, decision making and management of risk.
This workstream lead will work closely with the Head of Programme in initiating projects that provide strategic benefits to the programme and accelerates mission.
Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:
Education Level (Degree, Area of Study) – Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in applicable disciplines are Project Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related technical discipline required
Years of Experience (if applicable):
Minimum of 10 or more years of applicable project management experience required; 10–15 years preferred. Experience of initiating project delivery across a broad spectrum of scope and being able to shape them to ensure strategic intent is met.

APM Qualified or higher (or recognised equivalent)
