RESPONSIBILITIES
Welding Inspector (NDT Radiography – Nuclear)
Job Purpose
To ensure that all welding and fabrication activities within nuclear projects meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance by conducting inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT), with a focus on radiographic testing (RT), in accordance with nuclear codes, standards, and licensing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Welding Inspection
- Perform visual inspection (VT) of welds at all stages (fit-up, in-process, final).
- Ensure compliance with:
- WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications (WPQ)
- Nuclear-specific codes (e.g., ASME Section III, RCC-M, BS EN ISO)
- Monitor critical weld parameters and hold points defined in Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Identify and assess weld defects against stringent nuclear acceptance criteria.
Qualifications & Certifications
Essential
- Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or AWS CWI or equivalent)
- NDT Certification (ISO 9712 / PCN / DTI) – Radiography (RT) Level II or higher
- Demonstrated competence in radiographic interpretation
Highly Desirable (Nuclear-Specific)
- Experience working under ASME Section III or RCC-M
- ISO 19443 or nuclear QA training
- Radiation Protection training (RPS awareness or equivalent)
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years in welding inspection and NDT.
- Proven experience in radiographic testing in highly regulated industries.
- Nuclear experience preferred, or transferable experience from:
- Oil & Gas (high-integrity systems)
- Aerospace
- Pressure vessel fabrication
