Civil Inspector (QA/QC) – NuclearDevonport, Plymouth (On-site)
12 months + Contract Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Inspector (QA/QC) to support major nuclear infrastructure works based in Devonport. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile project within a highly regulated environment, ensuring quality standards are maintained across critical civil construction activities.
The Role
As a Civil Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring that all civil works are delivered in compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, and project teams to verify and assure construction quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections of civil works in line with approved drawings, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Witness key construction activities and ensure adherence to hold and witness points
- Review and accept contractor ITPs and quality documentation
- Support the preparation, review, and acceptance of Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs)
- Attend and contribute to site meetings, quality reviews, and progress updates
- Identify, raise, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) through to close-out
- Provide day-to-day quality assurance support to site teams and contractors
- Ensure all inspection and quality records are accurately maintained and auditable
- Support project handover by ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant
- Promote a strong culture of quality and continuous improvement on site
About You
- Proven experience in a Civil Inspector or QA/QC role within major infrastructure or nuclear projects
- Strong understanding of civil construction activities (e.g. concrete, reinforcement, structural works, earthworks)
- Experience working within the nuclear sector is essential (QC1 or equivalent)
- Experienced in working with contractors and subcontractors across complex project environments
- Good knowledge of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation, and compliance processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality management
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Competent in basic IT systems for reporting and document control
