RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Title: Senior Cost Engineer

Contract Length: 12 Months
Location: Berkshire (Hybrid – 2 days per week on site)

Overview

An organisation operating within a highly regulated environment is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Engineer to join a central functional team supporting infrastructure and organisational delivery capability rather than direct project delivery.

The successful candidate will provide expert cost engineering support across the organisation, driving best practice, consistency, forecasting accuracy, and continuous improvement within cost management processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain appropriate procedures, processes, and systems to ensure quality and consistency of cost data.
• Provide expert cost engineering support across the organisation, acting as a centre of excellence for:
  • Cost forecasting
  • Cost analysis
  • Trend identification
  • Performance reporting and insight
• Support the development and embedding of cost management tools, guidance, and methodologies.
• Drive continuous improvement and maturity within the cost engineering function.
• Provide constructive challenge and assurance to delivery teams and senior leadership to support investment decisions, prioritisation, and confidence in cost positions.
• Support capability development across the wider cost engineering community through coaching, mentoring, and promotion of best practice.
• Maintain high standards across environment, safety, health, security, and quality activities.

Essential Requirements

• Proven background in cost engineering within engineering, construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and reporting skills.
• Experience operating within a functional or centralised cost management environment.
• Experience tracking manpower productivity and analysing:
  • Time booked to projects
  • Resource utilisation versus plan
  • Resource constraints and forecasting
• Ability to provide recommendations and insight to Project Managers and leadership teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
