Senior EC&I Designer

RESPONSIBILITIES

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior EC&I Designer on a contract basis. Candidates will be based in either Cumbria or Warrington. 

Role Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary CE&I design team providing site-based design support to commissioning activities

• Provide front-line technical support to commissioning teams, ensuring design intent is maintained

• Deliver detailed CE&I designs and design changes to meet functional and business requirements

• Support the delivery of design outputs produced by others, including checking and verification of detailed designs and changes

• Ensure designs are developed in line with applicable external engineering standards, particularly:

  • PES-based control systems

  • Process instrumentation

• Communicate effectively with engineers across multiple disciplines, supporting efficient issue resolution

• Note: implementation, testing, and commissioning of designs are undertaken by separate site-based teams and are outside the scope of this role

Working Arrangements:

• 37 hours per week over 4½ days

• Minimum of 3 days per week site-based

• When not required on site, a minimum of 3 days per week working from a West Cumbria-based design office

• Occasional travel to a Warrington-based office, approximately once per month

Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following:

Essential:

• HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline

• Incorporated Engineer status

• Active SC clearance

• Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering the role of CE&I Senior Design Engineer on external, multidiscipline projects

• Experience providing site-based, front-line design support to commissioning teams

• Proven capability delivering, supporting, and checking detailed designs and design changes

• Working understanding of relevant external engineering standards for:

  • PES-based control systems

  • Process instrumentation

• Strong problem-solving skills with effective verbal and written communication abilities

• Willingness to support and develop early career engineers

Desirable:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience delivering as a CE&I Senior Design Engineer

• Experience working on complex, multidiscipline projects

• Working understanding of structured internal engineering standards applicable to:

  • PES-based control systems

  • Process instrumentation
