Job Description
The role required is a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer – Piped Services, embedded within a multi-disciplinary project delivery team.
Project Overview
The project involves the delivery of a new nuclear processing and storage facility designed to safely receive, process, and repackage sensitive nuclear materials into long-term storage packages. The facility forms part of a nationally significant programme aimed at improving long-term nuclear safety, security, and environmental management
The client is seeking a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer to support delivery of piped services systems including utilities such as water, steam, compressed air, and effluent systems.
The role will support engineering activities through detailed design, manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide design support to procurement, manufacture, and installation teams.
- Manage CE&I design configuration and design baseline updates.
- Produce, review, and check CE&I design documentation to programme deadlines.
- Support supply chain engineering activities and respond to technical queries.
- Assist with production of test specifications and support factory acceptance testing.
- Coordinate CE&I systems integration with wider plant systems using BIM processes.
- Support commissioning and site-based engineering activities.
- Ensure alignment between CE&I design intent and safety case requirements.
- Support validation and verification activities throughout project delivery.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Degree/HND/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Professional registration or working towards registration with a recognised engineering institution.
- Experience in a similar engineering role within highly regulated industries.
- Nuclear industry experience desirable but not essential.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Design competence across the full project lifecycle.
- Ability to independently manage assigned engineering scope.
- Experience managing validation and verification activities.
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working available.
- Minimum 3 days per week office/site presence required.
- Regular interaction with suppliers, contractors, operators, and maintenance teams.
- Occasional travel to supplier and project locations required.
