Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies, frameworks, and procedures aligned with corporate and regulatory standards.

  • Facilitate risk identification workshops with project teams and stakeholders.

  • Maintain and update risk registers, ensuring risks are appropriately assessed, scored, and managed throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support development of risk mitigation strategies and contingency planning.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, including Monte Carlo simulations where required.

  • Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and heat maps to project leadership and clients.

  • Ensure risks are integrated with schedule and cost models to inform forecasting and project controls.

  • Lead assurance reviews and support audits as needed.

  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement in risk practices across programmes.

  • Liaise with client representatives, regulatory bodies (e.g., Ofwat), and other third parties where applicable.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management, or related discipline.

  • Proven experience in risk management within infrastructure, utilities, or construction sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of project risk tools (e.g. Active Risk Manager [ARM], Primavera Risk Analysis, @RISK).

  • Solid understanding of risk methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) and project delivery frameworks.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to analyse complex data and communicate risk insights clearly to diverse audiences.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the water sector and familiarity with AMP frameworks (e.g. AMP7/8).

  • Experience with NEC contracts and their approach to risk management.

  • Understanding of TOTEX, regulatory incentives (ODIs), and water sector governance.

  • Membership of or working toward IRM, APM Risk SIG, or similar professional body.
