RESPONSIBILITIES

General Job Function:

Working under the guidance of the Workstream Lead – Programme Resilience, accountable for the delivery and project management requirements of the Resilience workstream that comprises a number of projects designed to strategically provide resilience into the programme, remove single point vulnerabilities and ultimately accelerate delivery.

The Project Manager will work closely with the Workstream Lead to implement projects identified by the programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, directing and co-ordinating the project team's activities to manage and implement projects and/or interrelated projects from initiation to final closure.
  • Determines, monitors and reviews all project financials to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk. Can make decisions based upon earned value, cost and schedule indicators and financial KPIs to the benefit of the project.
  • Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the project(s), working closely with the Programme Controls function. Can make appropriate decisions around float, time risk allowances, schedule logic and contingency in a schedule.
  • Adheres to the established Project Management processes and governance arrangements, ensuring that this is cascaded throughout the projects. Demonstrates robust application of arrangements with their team.
  • Works with compliance teams to ensure EHS&Q arrangements are in place and that adherence to the Management Systems is robust.
  • Actively promotes learning from experience and continuous improvement, working with the Workstream Lead to identify and embed improvements within the workstream. Embeds a culture of openness and honesty.
  • Identifies and assembles the appropriate blend of resource that delivers the project(s) needs and requirements. This includes the appropriate level of make vs buy and therefore the use of supply chain to support the organisation's commercial construct.
  • Undertakes status review meetings among project teams under their oversight. Advises the Workstream Lead on matters of escalation, major concerns, risks, and opportunities within the workstream. Ensures that all changes to scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk exposure, or technical requirements are identified, assessed, approved, implemented, and recorded in a controlled, transparent, and auditable manner.
  • Controls project requirements, scope and change management issues (including approval of contract variations and early warnings within appropriate levels of authority), both with the client and supply chain. Working closely with the Commercial team to do so.
  • Alongside the Workstream Lead, the Project Manager(s) works to ensure the workstream delivers on its requirements to drive the mission of the programme. The Project Manager is required to bring a strong delivery-focused mentality to pace, decision making and management of risk.

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies

Education Level (Degree, Area of Study) – Minimum Requirement:

Degree in applicable disciplines of Project Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related technical discipline required.

Years of Experience (if applicable):

Minimum of 5 or more years of applicable project management experience required. Experience of initiating project delivery across a broad spectrum of scope and being able to shape them to ensure strategic intent is met.

Professional Certifications:

APM Qualified or higher (or recognised equivalent).
