Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Rate: £400 - £450 per day
Contract Length: 12 months (with potential for extension)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Quality Engineer to join our client's team based in Reading. This is an exciting 12-month contract opportunity offering a competitive daily rate within the £400 - £450 range. We are looking for someone who can make an immediate impact in ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead quality assurance efforts for products and processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues.

Develop and maintain inspection and testing procedures, ensuring they align with the best industry practices.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to drive continuous improvement in quality.

Perform audits and inspections at various stages of production to identify potential quality risks and areas for improvement.

Prepare and present quality reports and metrics, highlighting trends and areas of concern.

Manage and facilitate external audits and customer quality assessments.

Work with suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and manage supplier quality issues when they arise.
Key Requirements:

Proven experience as a Quality Engineer, ideally within the manufacturing or engineering sectors.

Strong knowledge of quality standards, including ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or similar certifications.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement effective corrective actions.

Experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, FMEA).

Strong communication skills, able to liaise effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Proficiency in using quality management software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite.

Experience working with suppliers and conducting audits.

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:

Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent qualification.

Experience working with automotive or aerospace quality standards is a plus.

Experience in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
