Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Rate: £400 - £450 per day
Contract Length: 12 months (with potential for extension)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Quality Engineer to join our client's team based in Reading. This is an exciting 12-month contract opportunity offering a competitive daily rate within the £400 - £450 range. We are looking for someone who can make an immediate impact in ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality assurance efforts for products and processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues.

  • Develop and maintain inspection and testing procedures, ensuring they align with the best industry practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to drive continuous improvement in quality.

  • Perform audits and inspections at various stages of production to identify potential quality risks and areas for improvement.

  • Prepare and present quality reports and metrics, highlighting trends and areas of concern.

  • Manage and facilitate external audits and customer quality assessments.

  • Work with suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards and manage supplier quality issues when they arise.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer, ideally within the manufacturing or engineering sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, including ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or similar certifications.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement effective corrective actions.

  • Experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, FMEA).

  • Strong communication skills, able to liaise effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in using quality management software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite.

  • Experience working with suppliers and conducting audits.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent qualification.

  • Experience working with automotive or aerospace quality standards is a plus.

  • Experience in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
