Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a C&I Design Engineer to be engaged on a permanent basis in Somerset.Role Overview
As an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Designer/Engineer, you will support the delivery of safe and reliable systems within a major nuclear project. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to design, installation, and commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with UK nuclear standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review I&C design documentation (e.g. hook-up drawings)
- Carry out technical assessments and ensure regulatory compliance
- Prepare material take-offs, equipment schedules, and procurement data
- Collaborate with engineering disciplines and respond to technical queries
- Support on-site installation and liaise with suppliers and clients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation
Requirements
- Background in I&C design within regulated industries (e.g. nuclear, power)
- Knowledge of instrumentation and safety-related systems
- Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, E3D/PDMS, or Aveva E&I
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND or degree)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety
